Sažetak
The objective of this work was to describe the fild case of PMWS on swine farm, without previous history of the disease, where the most striking necropsy findings were renal lesions. Animals examined in the present work originated from swine herd with 200 weanig pigs. Seventeen, 6-8 weaks old pigs were analyzed. Following a complete post mortem examination lymph nodes and kidneys were collected for histopathological examination. Confirmation were performed by immunohistochemical detection of PCV2 antigen using a specific monoclonal antibody. Microscopicaly, all changes seen in examined kidneys can be pathologically defined as tubulo-interstitial nephritis. The PCV2 antigen was detected in the cytoplasm of inflammatory cells and in epithelial cells of some tubuli in 13 (76%) kidneys. Our results suggest the diagnostic criteria of PMWS colud be fulfilled by findings of severe macroscopis and microscopic pathological lesions in renal tissue supported by immunohistochemical finding of PCV2 antigen.
