Sažetak
When the independent state of Croatia was established and after transition from socialism to a market economy, all of the former social-owned agricultural land was transited to state-owned land. Family farms are skeleton of agricultural development, that is the basic form of agricultural production in Croatia. Actual size and fragmentation of land are unfavorable and present main limitation of progress of family farms and growth of whole agriculture. It demonstrates the information that the average size of family farm is about 3 ha and consist of five parts. For family farm to enable for rational and profitable production, it is necessarily to insure optimal production capacities, the most important of which is agricultural land. Therefore the privatization of state-owned land is unique chance for enlargement family farms and solve the problem of land property rights. In this paper the emphasis will be put on options and forms of disposal of state-owned land like leasing, purchasing, concession, grant and freehold ownership in accordance with the data from Croatian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
