Sažetak
Textile industry use large amounts of water and different chemicals for wet processes like sizing, scouring, bleaching, cotton softening, washing etc. Textile wastewaters are characterized by an extreme variability in composition and contain substances removed during pre-treatments, such metal ions from natural fibers in origin or residues of agrochemicals (herbicides, pesticides, defoliants), spinning and needle oils, waste fibers and monomers from synthetic fibers, dyes, pigments, chemicals for achieving special properties of final textile product and almost all chemicals and auxiliaries used during finishing processes. These chemicals, after their use, cause pollution in the effluents. Some of them are corrosive which could damage the equipment and fabric itself. Thus, pollutional characteristics must be defined in relations to the production processes. On the other hand, process water must be purified of organic impurities and of salts, calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese carbonates, phosphates, nitrates and chlorides in ground and spring waters. Alkali is mainly used for pre-treatment of cellulosic materials, in order to remove fats and oils in the fibers. Important parameters are pH, Na2SO4, NaCl, Na2CO3, content of Ca2+, some metal ions and temperature. Na2SO4 and NaCl are applied at high concentrations (especially in dye baths). Sodium hypochlorite is often used for cotton bleaching and for disifecting hospital loundry wastewaters. All these facts are reason for monitoring of process water and wastewater and ion chromatography is an excelent method for thih purpose. The wastewaters investigated in this study were obtained after bleaching, washing and neutralizing of cotton thread and analized by ion chromatography method. The Dionex DX600 chromatography system with gradient pump (GS 50), electrochemical detector (ED50), ionPac AS14 (4-mm) culumn, ionPac AG14 (4-mm) guard column, anion atlas alactrolytic suppressor (AAES) were used in all experiments. Next anions are found: fluoride, chloride, nitrate and sulphate.
