Sažetak
We are happy to have an opportunity to present you with this special issue of International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (IJEIM) titled The Lines of Growing/Transporting Entrepreneurship in/to Transition Economies" In today's highly competitive business environment, entrepreneurship, innovation and technology are viewed as a key strategic resource upon which a firm can develop global dynamic capabilities. Globalization has changed the relationship between West countries and the transition economies found primarily in Eastern/Central Europe (CEE). The accession of eight Central and Eastern European countries into the European Union on May 1, 2004 dramatically changed the business landscape in Europe. At the same time, candidate countries like Croatia continue to strive for accession into EU. As it has evolved, the EU has grown larger to the point where today it is the largest single market in the world and the largest force in world trade. With the cost of doing business still relatively low in the accession countries, American, West European, and Asian companies have continue to strive to penetrate these transition economies. The emerging economies of the CEE have embarked on a major transition from state controlled economies to western-style market driven markets. Transitional societies are facing many challenges including changes not only in the field of economics but also how to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation in their countries. The goal of this special issue of IJEIM is to explore the foundations of entrepreneurship in transition economies. With the rapidly increasing global integration of business, international assignments have come to play a central role in the business strategies of many multinational organizations the development of new ventures in CEE countries appears to be lagging. The purpose of this special issue is to provide a state-of-the-art assessment of our knowledge and understanding of 21st Century global organizations and their entrepreneurs? correlates, and to directly link transition countries and entrepreneurship in the context of global economy. This issue is the part of the efforts and contributions of many authors and reviewers who are passionate about the opportunities, threats and challenges created by the EU enlargement process for transition countries. Here is the list of contributing authors and their manuscripts: Timothy Kiessling and Michael Harvey: Globalization of Internal Venture Capital Opportunities in Developing Small and Medium Enterprises?
