Sažetak
Silica dust emerges as a by-product in the manufacture of ferrosilicon. The present work systematically studies the influence of silica dust on the mechanical strength and sulfate resistance of cement mortars, in the system, where, up to 15 wt% of cement has been substituted by the fine particles of silica dust. The study has been shown that the silica dust addition to blended Portland cement leads to considerable improvements of the mechanical properties and resistance of mortars to sulfate attack.
