Sažetak
Centuries-old research of the ancient Nesactium an Roman Pula have brought to light the fact that open and underground channels and sewer network (cloaca) were architecturally in line with Vitruvius' notes, planned in detail and executed for collection and drainage of rainwater, wastewater and faecal waters from privately owned and public houses, streets and forums. In Pula, the main Roman wastewater collector, situated under the surface of the Forum, conducted water to the sea. It has also been noted that the drainage system that used so-called gargoyles to drain water in the forums in Nesactium and Pula, is a proof of a high level of civilization and sanitation in the towns of the ancient Istria.
