Sažetak
Concrete as a construction material has numerous applications and long history of use. Due to the unfavorable influence of the environment, including weathering, various corrosive agents and mechanical stresses, there is a risk of serious degradation of the material. In order to avoid losses periodic inspections should indicate the state of the structural parts so that the maintenance work could be planed. In this regard, nondestructive methods of investigation offer several advantages, including the speed and possibility of repeating the measurements. Nowadays, ultrasonic methods of inspection are especially attractive and widely used. The main difficulty arises in the unambiguous interpretation of the received signal that makes hard to plan further actions. In this respect, this work had been conducted in order to test the applicability of our recently developed approach for nondestructive characterization of cement materials by ultrasonic through transmission measurements. The method was compared to the other methods of assessing state of damage of concrete materials and further research directions are outlined.
