Sažetak
WHOM do you know is closely related to WHAT you will learn in a near future? Social Network Analysis (SNA) roots come from sociology, anthropology, psychology and mathematics. Knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer uses “ firmly routed” ways of communication that already exist in organizations and often differ from the formal organizational structure. To be able to find specific knowledge it is necessary to be aware of the paths by which the knowledge is transferred. To improve the efficiency of knowledge sharing you need to interfere in these paths. SNA is a diagnostic tool used for improving collaboration, enhancing knowledge transfer and enabling generation of new knowledge. There are many aspects that need to be considered when doing analysis of knowledge sharing in a specific network: who knows what, accessibility of certain individual/expert in a network, who is crucial in problem solving, decision making or discussing an innovative idea, who has the greatest influence or whom people trust. Results of these analyses enable you to identify bottlenecks, undersized or oversized connections between departments/individuals, brokers, isolated individuals or departments which can be wasted potential or subgroups with potentially negative influence. SNA is a complex analytical measurement tool which is almost impossible to implement without information technology support. What can your organization get from it? Benefits like enhancing innovation and productivity through closing knowledge gaps, higher productivity through balancing communication, better people management (identifying new potentials, connecting people from different projects etc.), better understanding of knowledge and information transfer, identification and recognition of knowledge experts, key roles establishment and better management of organization development.
