Sažetak
In this Encyclopedia article the author begins with explaining the basic principles of international law concerning treaties, and especially concerning the possible effect of treaties on third parties. He continues with an analysis of the relevant provisions of the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, and after that refers in a separate section to seeming and real exceptions to the principle of non-application of treaty rules to third parties. In his assessment at the end of the artcle, the author concludes that the principle whereby treaties create rules only for the parties, remains one of the fundamental principles of international law.
