Sažetak
The paper analyses the characteristic features of bilingual speech. Its aim is to call attention to the peculiarities and their reasons, and calls for the acceptance of bilinguals. In monolingual speech communities, where the norm is the use of just one language and people usually share one and the same language all through their lives, bilinguals are often seen as some kind of a miracle. In worst cases, they are considered to be semilinguals from a fractional point of view. In this paper, the processing of bilingual speech is in focus.
