Sažetak
Natural killer (NK) and NKT (NKT) cells represent lymphocyte subpopulations with important features in innate immune response. NKT cell activity plays a crucial role in the regulation of antimicrobial, antitumor, autoimmune and allergic immune defence. NKT cells represent T cell subpopulation that shares common properties of natural killer cells and conventional T cells and is characterized by a narrow T cell antigen receptor (TCR) repertoire, which may recognize glycolipid antigen in the context of the monomorphic CD1d antigen-presenting molecule. These cells have the unique capacity to rapidly produce large amounts of both T helper: Th1 and Th2 cytokines Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNC) from healthy adult volunteers and from patients with colorectal carcinoma were taken and labelled with antibodies by direct or indirect staining. CD3(+) /CD16+56(+) NKT cells, T cells, NK cells, CD4(+), CD8(+), CD3(+)/CD4(+), CD3(+)/CD8(+), CD5(+), CD19(+) and CD5(+)/19(+) cells of patients with and normal controls were analyzed by flow cytometric analysis. Statistical analysis was done in computer program Statistica 7.1 (StatSoft, Inc., Tulsa, OK, USA). Graphs and tables were done in computer program Microsoft Excel. Our data indicate that the patients with colorectal carcinoma have significantly increased the percentage of NK and NKT cells, which may interplay with the number and function of dendritic cells. The appropriate postoperative pain management by epidural analgesia can modulate cell mediated immunity of these patients after colorectal surgery.
