Sažetak
Harmony between regulatory T cells (Tregs) and protective immune responses is a subject of great interest of many scientists. Tregs often benefit the host in autoimmune, allergic, infectious diseases as well as in cancer and transplantation. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of urban air pollution on the role of Tregs and compared that with spirometry tests. We characterized Tregs, using flow cytometric analysis (FACSCalibur) to determine the phenotypic profile of isolating human peripheral blood lymphocytes of inhabitants living in industrial area. Findings were compared with the control group of inhabitants living in rural areas. People from industrial areas have statistically significant increased values of Tregs, but those with diminished spirometry’ s findings have interestingly shown decreased number of Tregs.
