Sažetak
In the period of Augustus' rule, senatorial investments in Istrian agriculture and their placement on new markets in Panonia and Noricum were under the influence of the imperial policy which accorded preferential treatment to northern Italia and Istria. This was Augustus' general economic program for all the Italian regions as stated by J. D'Arms, the same policy was in act in Campania. We can find a similarity with a comparison of two villas with huge production facilities, one situated in the area of Roman Etruria, villa Settefinestre in Ager Cosanus, and the other situated in Istria, on the Brijuni Islands, in the Bay of Verige. On the both villas construction activitiy followed the production process. It is a direct confirmation of success. Settefinestre is situated on an elevated terrace, like the villa on Brijuni islads above the Verige bay, later enlarged and built as maritime villa. Both kept their prpduction facilities in their luxury phases.
