Sažetak
In the last two centuries in Europe international law was given the features of a system of positive legal rules, detached from the earlier mostly speculative teaching of natural law. The political map of Europe has undergone several profound changes. Small nations were in some periods parts of larger empires under foreign rules. Now they are independent states. As author said it was interesting to consider the contribution of authors from these nations to the doctrine of international law under conditions of permanent changes. In this Essay several scholars, scientists, journals and books, institutions and associations are emphasized. The author analysed three periods in Croatia and in Former Yugoslavia: the period until 1918, between the two world wars, and the period from 1945 up to the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
