Sažetak
The archaeological site Debela šuma is located on the route of the Beli Manastir – Osijek – Svilaj motorway, Đakovo – Sredanci section. Rescue archaeological excavations were carried out on an area of 59, 000 square metres. The site consists physically of two parts, between which is a depression filled for most of the year with water. The concentration of archaeological finds is greater to the south of the depression. According to the results of archaeological investigations, the oldest finds belong to Starčevo culture. The great majority of all the prehistoric features investigated belong to Sopot Culture, and a few finds from Lengyel Culture were also made. A deserted village of the medieval period was investigated at the site. The oldest finds belong to the 8th and 9th centuries. Two workshop structures from this period were investigated. Most of the dwelling places can be dated to the 12th and 16th centuries. This is a medieval village that was abandoned when the Turks came in. The prehistoric and medieval settlements only partially overlap. The prehistoric settlement is at a lower elevation than the medieval.
