Sažetak
Inorganic lead, because of its worldwide industrial use and toxic effects, still has a great dangerous potential to humans health. Therefore, lead workers represent a highly risky group that needs to be monitored. The aim of this study was to estimate genome sensitivity in an occupationally exposed group of people who work in a radiator and battery production and to correlate the results with lead, vitamin B-12 and folic concentration in peripheral blood. To assess and compare induced DNA damage, we used cytokinesis-blocked micronucleus assay (per 1000 cells) in peripheral lymphocytes. The control group matched the observed one in gender and age. It has been observed that in occupationally exposed group, both lead concentration and micronuclei frequency were significantly higher when compared to control. Although observed, there were no significantly changes in micronucleus frequency between smoking and non-smoking workers exposed to lead.
