Sažetak
The low-frequency Raman spectrum of a benzoic acid single crystal contains both lattice and hydrogen bond vibrations. Thirteen bands have been observed below 200 cm-1. The assignment of this spectrum is based on the assumption that there is no perturbation between lattice and hydrogen bond vibrations. The assignment of the external spectrum has been obtained by comparison with the spectra of anthracene and naphtalene, while hydrogen bond vibrations have been assigned assuming a certain similarity between the spectrum of the benzoic acid single crystal and the spectra of other carboxylic acids.
