Sažetak
B cell chronic lymphocyte leukemia (B-CLL) is lymphoproliferative syndrome characterized by an expansion of long-lived, small, non-dividing CD5+ B cell malignant clone which din not retain the capacity to functionally maturate and underwent programmed cell death. In this study we proposed that B cell homotypic adhesion in B-CLL might contribute to that malignant cell gathering. In regard to better evaluate the presence of CD5/CD72 and CD21/CD23 molecule ligand pairs on B cells in B-CLL patients, we performed whole blood three-color immunofluorescence analysis to detect the B cells (CD19) wich are simultaneously CD5+CD72+ and CD21+CD23+. Heparinized whole blood samples were obtained from 32 B-CLL patients and from 19 age and gender matched controls. We found the percentage of CD5+, CD72+, and CD23+ B cells to be significantly increased in the patient group, whereas the percentage of CD21+ B cells did not differ from control values. In conclusion, the increased expression of CD19+CD5+CD72+ and CD19+CD21+CD23+ on leukemic B cells may facilitate and contribute to accumulation of malignant C cell clone.
