Sažetak
The aim of this study was to evaluate the periapical health on archeological sample from recent historic period. Methodology Forty well conserved sculls escavated from the archeological findings in church cripts were examined radigraphically. The church is cathedral in Pozega, Slavonia region of Croatia. According church records individuals were burried from 1760 to 1868. A totally of 960 teeth were analysed, 116 were lost after death and 204 before death. Caries was assesd using dental explorer and radigraphically. To evaluate periapical health presence of apical parodontis, root resorption and condensing osteitis on panoramic radiographs were recorded. To evaluate apical parodontitis periapical index (PAI) was used. A score egual or greater than three was catagorized as a diseased periapx. Root resorption on the apearance of roots shorter than neibougher teeth. Condensing ostitis was clearly indefied as a radiopaque region in the periapical area. Results Caries was found in 112 teeth (12%). Periapical pathosis was found in 49 (5%) teeth, 44 had periapical parodontitis and five of them had root resorption. Condensing osteitis was found in periapical region of 5 teeth.
