Sažetak
This paper presents an analysis of the seismic loading of structures based on combined windows-wavelet transformation of ground accelerations. Windows-wavelet transformation separates an acceleration function into regular harmonic waves of different periods and shows the intensity of each wave in an accelerogram. The function which represents the maximum intensity of acceleration for the observed wave in an accelerogram is named the resonant spectrum input. A single degree of freedom system is subjected to each harmonic seismic action presented by resonant spectrum input. The response of the single degree of freedom system gives the maximum acceleration which is named response acceleration spectrum. In this paper the earthquake action is discharged into a constant and a fluctuating component. The constant component is extracted from the accelelogram by a windows-wavelet transformation of a rectangular type. The fluctuating component is extracted from the accelelogram by a windows-wavelet transformation of a harmonic type. The intensity of both components depends on the time interval of observation. The total acceleration is obtained as combination of the constant and fluctuating components. Windows- wavelet transformation performed on several accelerograms shows that the intensity of waves with several wave lengths decreases in inverse proportion to the number of waves. Thus if the spectrum for one number of waves is known, the spectra for the arbitrary number of waves in earthquake action are also known. It is also shown that the constant component has a significant intensity especially for low periods. The resonant acceleration spectrum displays a similar behaviour as the classical acceleration spectrum, but with some specific behaviour, depending on a number of terms of the fluctuating component, which does not appear in the classical ones. In the case when the greater number of the fluctuating term is taken, the resonant acceleration spectrum gives more unfavourable response of the single degree of freedom system for the observed earthquake accelerogram with respect to the classical spectrum.
