Sažetak
For purposes of evaluation of health condition in hare populations and health safety of hare meat the following was made: patho-anatomical examination, coprological and bacteriological analysis of hare meat and organs, and determination of heavy metals, pesticides and poly-chlorinate biphenyls. Results of patho-anatomical examination showed signs of hyperemia of all parenchymal organs in two samples. Other hare samples did not show visible patho-anatomical alterations, except damages induced by killing. Bacteria Francisela tularensis was not isolated. Results of bacteriological analysis of hare organs revealed the presence of Streptococcus spp in 3 samples (4.23 %). Endoparasites were found in 5 hare samples (7.04 %), and coccidia oocysts in 4 samples (5.63 %). Of 71 analysed samples, as many as 44 (61.97 %) did not comply with the Regulations on microbiological food standards (Official Gazette of Croatia no. 125/03). Analysis of heavy metals in kidney and meat samples (n=71) showed that 17 samples (23.94 %) did not comply with the Regulations on toxins, metals, metalloids, and other harmful substances potentially present in food (Official Gazette of Croatia no. 16/05).
