Sažetak
The hematological and some biochemical parameters were determined in blood of chemically immobilized pregnant and non-pregnant free ranging red and fallow deer females. The variations of measured parameters were determined. The red deer hinds had higher values of hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean cell volume and mean cell hemoglobin, white blood cells count, glucose, albumin, triacylglyceride and urea concentration than fallow deer does, while fallow deer does had higher alanine aminotransferase activity and cholesterol concentration. In both species, a marked reduction of red blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit was noted in pregnant animals, whereas higher concentration of tryacilglyceride, cholesterol and creatinine as well as alanine aminotransferase activity was determined. Blood glucose concentration varied in pregnant animals regarding the species: higher glucose concentration was detected in red deer hinds and lower in fallow deer does. The higher neutrophyle and lymphocyte count was detected by the differential white blood cells count in red deer hinds than fallow deer does. There were no differences between pregnant and non-pregnant females regarding neutrophyle count, but pregnant hinds had lower lymphocyte count than non-pregnant ones, and opposite, pregnant does had more than twice lymphocyte count in their blood than non-pregnant animals. Moreover, pregnant fallow deer does had exceptionally high eosynophyle count in the blood. Despite the relatively small number of pregnant animals involved in the study, the interpretation of our results may facilitate better understanding of variability in biochemical and hematological parameters in blood during the pregnancy in red and fallow deer females.
