Sažetak
In order to estimate the physiological and pathological conditions of birds it is of importance to know the normal values of haematological parameters of captive and wild birds and interpretation of blood findings could be difficult if it normal values are not known. Therefore, this study was carried out duo to finding out normal values of basic haematological parameters in some terrestrial birds in central Croatia. Red blood cells (RBC), packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb), mean cell volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC), white blood count (WBC), thrombocyte count and differential WBC, were determined in 11 storks (Ciconia ciconia), 6 gray herons (Ardea cinerea), 8 hooded crows (Corvus cornix), 5 owls (Asio otus), 1 harriers (Circus pygargus) and 1 white-tailed sea eagles (Haliaetus albicilla). Some similarities and differences with other related birds were observed.
