Sažetak
Hog breeding in feeding stables inevitably leads to the production of a certain concentration of bacteria in the air. Due to the air flow, these bacteria spread outside the facilities thus bearing influence on the pollution of the local environment. The aim of this research was to establish the relation between the specific ways of hog keeping in the feeding stables and the level of the bacterial air pollution inside and immediate outside stable areas. For this purpose two different hog feeding facilities with subpr Prof. dr. sc. Željko Pavičić, Prof. dr. sc. Tomislav Balenović, mr. sc. Anamarija Ekert - Kabalin essure ventilation was described. Also, air samples, taken from the animals biological zone and outside the facility at the distances of 5, 10 and 15 m from the stables were analyzed. Facility A is a hog feeding facillity of 450 m2 holding forty - four 7m2 boxes. Facility B is a hog feeding facility of 750 m2 holding a total of 18 eighten 27, 5 m2 boxes. During the research, facility A held 440 and facility B 540 animals. The process of taking air samples was conducted during the winter and spring periods every 15th day during the 115 days of the hog feeding period. The air was sampled with the SAS 100TM device (PBI International, Italy) on prepared nutritious agar base (Columbia AGAR, Biolife), following which the total number of the bacteria CFU/m3 of air was determined in the laboratory by standard methods. During the research, microclimate conditions (temperature, relative humidity, air flow speed, ammonium concentration) were monitored in both facilities using the Testo and Drager (Germany) devices. According to the obtained results, in both facilities the primary microclimate values were in the range of the set norms for keeping hogs in hog feeding areas, and the mean values of the total bacteria number ranged to 104 CFU/m3. In relation to the facility B, a larger number of bacteria were noted in the facility A, which is correlated to the density of the animal population per m2 of the facility. Outside the stables at the set measuring distances, the bacteria count rapidly decreased which is connected to the influence of rapid air thinning and air flow unobstructed by other objects near-by.
