Sažetak
The present state of knowledge and limitations of the brain electrical activity mapping (BEAM) techniques are reviewed. The significance of these advanced topographic methods and possible disappointments which could arise if a method is not appropriately used and stressed. Strict technological control of the recording and analysis is necessary, as are also correlations of classical EEG and EP recordings with brain mapping techniques and further computational elaboration of the results. It is also true that at present these techniques cannot be regarded as the replacement for structural neuroimaging techniques (CT and MRI). Modern BEAM techniques represent an outstanding refinement of classical EEG techniques, but their full understanding and usefulness will be elaborated in further studies in different fields of CNS research and clinical applications.
