Sažetak
This investigation belongs to the field of experimental esthetics and it's aim is to define, on the basis of the follow-up of an examinees gaze at the time of observing paintings of different forms and styles, the process of observation and characteristic features of the observer trough the characterization of eye movement. For this purpose the classic electronystagmographic recording was used, supported by computerized data acquisition and corresponding program for guiding the experimental procedure, recording and data analysis. By this technique, despite known negative influence of the polarization electrode potential, the problem of signal recording in the time long enough for such experimental requirements (about 1-2 minutes) was solved. As the result of the first phase of the investigation were determined the basic characteristics of the eye movement which included the direction of the observation, place and duration of the fixation, length and velocity of eye movements and their distribution.
