Sažetak
The method of determining the appropriate height of furnace working space depending on furnace bed dimensions and thermal power of burners is described in this paper on an example of reheating flame furnace with roof indirect heating. The mathematical model of heat transfer in an open-flame furnace is described in which the mode of indirect oriented radiant heat transfer is applied. Using this formulated model, which takes into consideration the selective nature of gas radiation inside a furnace, the influence of indirect roof heating on an intensification of heat exchange was investigated. The main objective of this study was to examine the effect of working space height on the furnace productivity and specific fuel consumption.
