Sažetak
The poster documents the first finding of proventricular dilatation disease in farm-reared psittacine birds in Croatia. According to clinical signs, gross lesions and histopathologic examination the disease was confirmed in a medium sulphur-creasted cockatoo (Cacatua galerita eleonora) and a blue and gold macaw (Ara ararauna). The histopathologic examination revealed lymphoplasmacytic ganglioneuritis in the proventriculus, ventriculus and duodenum. Both birds were kept at the same farm in Croatia. In order to elucidate the possible virus involment, transmission microscopy analysis and polymerase chain reaction were performed using archival tissue samples. The results were negative.
