Sažetak
I am using the accounts on the Morlacchi from the 18th century (A. Fortis, I. Lovriž) in a comparative approach together with extensive literature on the Moralcchism in order to introduce a new perspective. Broader context of explanation is framed with the notion of the European "Other" as a new intellectual attitude towards some parts of the European continent in the 18th century. The article analyses both synchronic and diachronic dimensions of the notion of the "other" in the case of Morlacchi which are intriguing and provocative in its long lasting dimensions and changing connotations.
