Sažetak
The status of anthropological characteristics were determined in boys 13 years of age who either were involved in organized sports or did not do any organized sport except for physical education classes (the controls). The significant differences were determined between the judokas and wrestlers in 9 out of 16 tested variables. The young judokas scored better in 8 tests (ATT, ATV, AOP, MPR, MPT, BAC290, SKL290, F6), whereas the wrestlers were better only in one variable – leg power (CUC). Absolute values of the differences are not high because we are dealing here with similar sports (structural, biomechanical and anatomical characteristics. The obtained results indicate that the judokas are slightly better in the measured abilities and characteristics. However, the wrestlers achieved almost the same results with almost a half of judokas' training experience. Therefore we can presume with a relatively high probability that the wrestlers, if they continue to work, might even surpass the judokas in their capacities. The fact that the Croatian wrestlers accomplish better results on the international senior level than judokas speaks in favour of the mentioned assumption. Further research on the measured samples and their comparisons are suggested in the following stages of growth and development. It is also important to accentuate that the combat sport boys were significantly better than their non-athletic peers in all the tests, whereas they were better in most of motor tests than their peers from other sports. The obtained results speak in favour of the valuable influence of wrestling combat sports on the quality, harmonious and fast development of the entire anthropological status, and especially of motor abilities of 13-year old boys.
