Sažetak
The negative leakage inductance may appear in the representation of a three winding saturable transformer (Saturable Transformer Component - STC), because of the star equivalent used for the STC. Consequence of the negative inductance is exactly one large positive eigenvalue of system matrix, when state space form applied. Appearance a positive eigenvalue is a basic origin of the numerical instability of trapezoidal rule applied in EMTP. By other side, without the adjustment of the transformer model, BDF numerical rule stays stable for large positive eigenvalues, because of its particular characteristics in the area of numerical stability. The problem of numerical instability illustrates on test cases for circuits with a negative inductance. Such circuit can represent physically stable system for which BDF numerical rule may give stable numerical response in contrary to the trapezoidal rule.
