Sažetak
Ochratoxin A is a nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic and teratogenic mycotoxin produced by storage moulds (chiefly by species of Aspergillus and Penicillium) in a variety of commodities. We measured activities of alanine aminopeptidase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosamidase in the liver, kidney serum and urine of female Fisher rats that were submitted to the oral treatment with ochratoxin A (60ug/kg b.w.) during 5, 10, 20 and 30 days. The effects of a relatively low toxin concentration were followed by measuring catalytic activities of the relevant enzymes in the liver and kidney tissues, and in the serum and urine of experimental animals. An increased serum activity of alanine aminopeptidase after 30 days of treatment ( 1.81 fold increase) pointed to primary effect of ochratoxin A in the biliary tract. However, urine activities of alacline phosphatase and alanine aminopeptidase showed a significant increase in the early period of the experiment. Activities of alkaline phosphatase and alanine aminopeptidase were increased 1.55 (day 10) and 1.36 fold (day 20) (p<0.05), respectively. these results indicate specific sensitivity of the proximal kidney tubule to the ochratoxinA treatment. We conclude that activities of alanine aminopeptidase in the serum and urine, and of alkaline phosphatase in the urine of experimental animals can be used as diagnostic parameters for an early detection of toxic effects of ochratoxin A in the liver and kidney tissue.
