Sažetak
We have examined 73 patients affected by cerebrovascular disorders by parallel use of transcranial doppler ultrasonography and radioisotope angiography. We measured the blood velocity in the middle cerebral artery of both hemispheres of the brain in order to evaluate the hemodynamics. We have analysed by continuous wave doppler ultrasonography and radioisotope angiography the extracranial segment of the carotid arteries. Doppler sonography showed changed findings in 45 (61, 6%) and radioisotope angiography in 39 (53, 4%) of the 73 patients. By doppler ultrasonography a severe stenosis (>50%) of the lumen or occlusion of the middle cerebral artery was faund in 14 of the 50 patients hit by completed stroke, reversible ischemic neurologic deficit, or transient ishemic attach. By radioisotope radiography a severe stenosis (>50%) of the diameter or middle cerebral artery occlusion was found in 11 of the 50 patients belonging to the same group of examinees. Doppler ultrasonography is more sensitive method to the registration of hemodynamics disturbances in middle cerebral artery, particulary in moderate stenosis (<50%). The shortcoming of doppler ultrasonography if compared to radioisotope radiography are insonation problems uncountered in older persons.
