Sažetak
The activity of superoxide dismutase is not fully elucidated in asthenozoospermia, characterised by normal spermatozoa concewntration buth with reduced motility. The aim of thisştudy was to evaluate the SOD-like activity as well as in vitro effect of zinc on its activity in astheno and normozoospermia. SOD activity was measured using RanSod test. In vitro effect of zinc was assessed on unfractionated spermatozoa (18). The incubation of sperm suspension with increasing Zn concentration (0.1-3 mM/l) resulted in concentration-dependent decrease in SOD-like activity. The inhibitory effect of zinc was less pronounced in asthenozoospermic than in normozoospermic samples. Results from this study indicate that asthenozoospermia is associated with both an increasaed sperm SOD-like activity and its stronger resistance to the inhibitory effect of z8inc, which might be relevant to the sperm function.
