Sažetak
In a prospective study, the occurrence of respiratory allergy was studied in established cases of atopic dermatitis (AD; n=100), and compared with patients with cronic urticaria (n=50) and healthy controls (n=50). Complete anamnestic data (allergic rhinitis/conjunctivitis (AR), allergic bronchitis/asthma) were obtained from all examinees. Skin reactivity was evaluated by intradermal and prick testing to standard series of inhalant and nutritive allergens. We also determined the values of total IgE by RIST and ELISA methods, and blood eosinophile count. In adults respiratory atopy was found in 27/80 (33.7%) of AD patients (allergic rhinitis/conjunctivitis in 18/80 (22.5%), allergic bronchitis/asthma in 6/80 (7.5%) and both in combination in 3/80 (3.7%)). Out of 20 AD children, 15 (75%) had pure AD and 5 (25%) suffered from a "mixed" tipe with concomitant respiratory allergies (RA). One fourth to the one third of patients wiht AD had respiratory symptoms as well as skin manifestations of allegy (in adults in 27/80 (33.7%) and in children in 5/20 (25%)).
