Sažetak
Although first editions and early copies of Mozart's works can be found in some Croatian music collections and archives, and have been in use since the late 18th century, the first opera by Mozart was staged in Zagreb only in 1830, when Don Giovanni, sung in German translation as Don Juan, was staged by an Austrian opera company. Since then, throughout the 19th century, his operas (Don Giovanni and Zauberflöte) were performed several times by professional and/or amateur musicians, on three different stages. Most of them were reviewed by the journalists in some local newspapers. The paper deals with analysis of these parameters: the stagings of Mozart's operas within the context of Zagreb music/operatic life ; local interpretative and stage forces ; music criticism and reports on reactions of the audience.
