Sažetak
At the end of fifteen years long transitional period, the Croatian economic system is significantly improved and, by many criteria, completely comparable with those in the European Union countries. This progress is also evident in the part of housing system. Basically, the goal of conducted housing reform was to meet the housing needs of the entire population. Still, until now this goal has not been realized completely. The most important shortcomings and problems of existing housing system are evident in the part of housing construction financing, as well as in the part of national strategy for their support. The aim of this paper is to analyze the overall state of housing system in Croatia, to point to the significance and importance of particular participants, instruments and techniques of housing financing and, based on comprehension of modern practice and trends in the EU countries, to point to the need and possibilities of further development of housing system in Croatia.
