Sažetak
Development and improvement of the information and communication technologies occupies a significant position in all aspects of human activity, thus in education as well. As a result, the structure of some activities is changed, consequently changing function of elements within that same structure. The effect of these technologies on the educational process can be observed from the aspect of each of the educational elements. That is to say, from the aspect of the student, the teacher, content/program, or from the aspect of context in which the fore mentioned elements are placed. The altered role of the teacher is of special interest in this process. The teacher now becomes the one who motivates and instructs the student/pupil thus helping (the student) to transform information into knowledge. The teacher must find ways to redesign his/her traditional techniques into new ones ; it is the teacher who must develop new teaching paradigms and master modern administrative and technical skills. The role of the teacher will transform itself differently, according to various elements of the educational system. Technology will not replace the role of the teacher ; instead it will serve him/her to reach the educational goal by more acceptable and effective means. It is of great importance that the teacher has the institutional support as well.
