Sažetak
Croatia is undergoing a transitional process. In the process the tourism industry finds itself exposed to various influences out of which the consequences of war were the most dangerous. Disrupted ties with the tourism market during the war years, the gradual loss of personnel and the overall lack of innovation and entrepreneurial incentive have widened the gap between the market demand and the overall Croatian supply potential. It is for this reasons that the occupancy rates are very low, and the cost driven accommodation prices far from competitive on the European market. Actually, one can start speaking about advantages of the accommodation only when the vast potential is adjusted to market trends, restructured, adopts to principles of open market economy and is able to start generating profits rather than losses.
