Besides professors, the members of the Club were all municipal physicians, intelectuals, industrials, owners, merchants and diplomates. Prof. Salcher was the first secretary of the Club, and during his activity he hold all important positions within, including that of the vicepresident and president. He was also one of the founders of the Rőntgen Committee that already in 1887 purchased the first Roentgen Apparatus used in the Club for medical diagnosis. He was also involved in the activity of the Photographic section within the Club. He was editor of the German part of the Bulletin of the Club for Natural Sciences in Fiume (Rijeka) (Mittheilungen des Naturwissentschaftlichen Clubs in Fiume/ Bolletino del Club di scienze naturali in Fiume). Prof. Salcher alone held 31 lectures during the first 20 years of the Club's activity. The majority were in the field of physics and technique, but he held also lectures on arts, ethics, pedagogy and hygiene. The most important lectures he held were « Taking photograph of fast movement» from 1886, when he showed the photographs of the flying bullet taken with a help of high school prof. S. Riegler, and two lectures on X-rays: the first from 1896 with a help from prof. S. Brattanich (a week later prof. Slokovich repeated the same lecture in Italian), and the second from 1897 (with help of M. Gorup).
