Sažetak
Natural hops are usually processed into pellets type 90 or 45. Procedure for production of pellets type 90 includes drying of the hop cones, pressing and temporary storage in form of the bales, humidifying, milling and pelleting. Sequences of foregoing mentioned unit operations and manipulation cause significant losses (up to 2.78%) of the valuable alfa-acids then expected. The direct processing is shorter and does not include temporary storage of dried hop cones in hop bales. The biggest advantage of this procedure is minimization of the alfa-acids loss in comparison to the usual indirect procedure. In this work direct procedure for the hop pellets type 90 processing are presented and the alfa-acids content in pellets are compared with those achieved during usual indirect procedure. Losses of the total alfa-acids in hop pellets produced by direct procedure have not been higher than 0.28%. Pellets have been packaged under intert gas in 3-ply bags. Gas permeability of 3-ply(Al-foil) bags for air, oxygen and nitrogen is very low, 0.78 ; 0.8 and 0.76 cm3/m2/day/bar, respectively.
