Sažetak
A wide range of infectious and inflammatory dermatoses can affect the glans penis or prepuce. The most likely causes of painful genital ulcers are herpes simplex, chancroid, and syphilis. Granuloma inguinale and lymphogranuloma venereum are rare causes of genital ulceration. But other dermatoses should be considered. We devided them into: infection diseases (bacterial, viral, mycological, and parasitic), allergic and irritant contact dermatitis together with drug induced ulcerations, "accidental" and self injuries, precanceroses, carcinomas and miscellaneous. All patients with genital ulcers thought to be from an STD should be tested for syphilis and HIV regardless of other risk factors. Additionally they should be tested for herpes simplex.
