Sažetak
The paper analyses steps which CEECs have been taking to adhere to the single market. The single market is requirement for economic integration to the EU, which is together with adherence to the aims of political and monetary union one of conditions for EU membership. At present, candidate countries face three main steps towards closer integration to the EU. The first two- GATT/WTO membership and Association Agreements are relatively easy. The third step - EU membership- is extremely difficult and involves a series of measures for adopting acquis communautiarie. Some of these measures are foreseen in the pre-accession strategy, and the most important are taken in the framework of the Europe Agreements, structured dialogue and PHARE programme.
