Sažetak
The rural areas of Istria’ s interior – in particular, its highland regions – have unjustly been exposed to economic neglect over the past three decades. While economic resources needed for the development of selective forms of tourism, ecology-minded farming, forestry, etc. do exist, they are not being employed to any significant extent. This has resulted in a large-scale migration of the rural population that is threatening to completely depopulate many villages. The objective of this paper, upon studies conducted, is to propose better ways of valorising the economic resources of the rural mountain regions of Istria by developing strictly environment-friendly activities upon conducting studies In addition, the authors will examine the marketing, organisational, financial, technological and other aspects involved in valorising the economic resources of Istria’ s rural mountain regions.
