Sažetak
Present study was designed to create mobile phone frequency field ; a part of electromagnetic spectrum (EM), similar to those occurring in the general environment. Uniformity and biological effectiveness of created EM field has been tested in gigahertz transversal electromagnetic mode cell (GTEM-cell) using V79 cell culture. GTEM-cell equipped by Hewlett Packard HP 5675A signal generator was used to create mobile phone frequency field. Electric field strength and uniformity was measured by electric field meter and corresponding field probe (ETS-Lindgren Holaday, USA). To test electric field biological potency, cell samples were exposed to the continuous waves of 935 MHz frequency in GTEM-cell for 1, 2 and 3 hours. Cells have been cultivated in a humified atmosphere at 37°C in 5% CO2. Cell viability was provided by Trypan blue exclusion test. Colony-forming ability was determined by colony counts 7 days after exposure. The findings of electric field strength in the GTEM-cell ranged from 9, 0 V/m by septum to 7, 2 V/m at base section. It was shown that viability and colony-forming ability of irradiated cells did not significantly differ from sham-exposed samples. Measurement of field strength has shown that field distribution inside GTEM-cell was uniform with acceptable variation of 1, 8 V/m. It could be concluded that uniform mobile phone frequency field of 935 MHz in applied in vitro experimental conditions did not reveal harmful biological outcome.
