Sažetak
Lymphocyte populatins and cell-mediated immunity wereevaluated in 54 children with indulin-dependent type primary diabetes mellitus. Younger diabetics (2 to 10 years) had a normal propportion of E and EAC resette forming cells, whereas in older diabetics (11 to 17 years) there was a significant decrease in the percentage of EAC rosettes. If compared to patients having diabetes for less than 18 months, diabetics treated for more than 5 years had a significantly decreased absolute number of E rosettes. Further, diabetics compared to controls, had a significantly decreased lymphocyte transformation response to the suboptimal dose of phytohaemaglutinin (0.9 μ g/ml). Children diabetics for more than 18 months were significantly less reactive to PHA (9 μ g/ml) than those having diabetes for less than 18 months. Tuberculin hypersensitivity, determined as a skin reactivity of lymphocyte transformation response, wes also significantly decreased in diabetics. The results suggest an immunological defect in children with insulin-dependent diabetes. In addition, the present study has shown that some immunological functions were fading in the course of the disease.
