Sažetak
Standards and standardization are an elementary basis for determination and development of a social community or of an economic activity. We often say that when there are no standards and standardization there is the rule of entropy and chaos, and where there are standards order and organization rule. The Republic of Croatia and the countries of South Eastern Europe have a big task on their path to EU accession. Their task is to adapt their national standards to the international or European ones, i.e. some international standards need to be adapted to the developmental needs of their economies. In this context, this paper is going to explain some standards and standardization practices in the development of the Croatian clothing industry. On the territory of the former Yugoslavia, at the beginning of the 60s of the last century there was an experimental anthropometric measurement of the population. A sample of 5000 participants was used in the geographic area of Voivodina, and on the basis of this research the national standards for the clothing industry were adopted. The purpose of this paper is to show the necessity to carry out new anthropometric research on the whole area og the former Yugoslavia in order to determine the new anthropoetric status and to adopt new national standards.
