Sažetak
Introduction: No method is fully reliable for occlusal plane reconstruction. Aims: To check usefulness of digital photographs for reconstruction of occlusal plane and to analyse angles between and the gravity horizontal plane (GHP). Materials and methods: Forty two subjects (25 females and 17 males, 19 to 30 years) with all teeth (Angle Class I) participated. Alginate impressions were obtained and models, poured in the hard stone were mounted in the S.A.M. 2 “ P” articulator. Frontal and lateral digital photographs were obtained while a plumb line was pending from the ceiling. Subjects were in natural head position, clenching a Fox plane and having a quick-mounting face bow positioned. Angles between articulator horizontal plane and the occlusal plane (AHP-OP) and between face bow and a Fox plane (FB-FP) were measured. In lateral view angles between FP, Frankfort plane (FHP) and Camper's plane (CP) to GHP were measured. In frontal view angles between bipupilar plane (BP) and FP to GHP were measured as well. Results: 1. There was no significant difference between AHP-OP and FB-FP (P>.05 ; N.S.) ; 2. BP and FP were almost parallel to GHP ; 3. In lateral view FP was almost parallel to GHP, but FHP and CP were not. FP and CP were not parallel. Conclusion: Digital photographs are helpful in reconstructive prosthodontics procedures. Camper's plane is not a reliable landmark for occlusal plane reconstruction. Frankfort plane does not represent the gravity horizontal plane. Occlusal plane should be parallel to bipupilar line and to gravity horizontal plane.
