Sažetak
The reciprocal relationship between change in society and changes in universities (both program and organizational/institutional changes) needs to be better understood and elaborated in order that it may be better managed in a near future, to the benefit of both society and university. As different project's results recently ascertained, social transformation has both "structural and ideational elements" (see e.g. International project "The Role of Universities in the Transformation of Societies", directed by Bjarnason & Brennan). Recent analyses showed that the period of "removing the old" in Croatian academic programs seems to be finished before the Bologna reform has been started in 2003. Parallel with the revitalization of the Croatian Sociological Association's activities in 2000's, the movement to assess students’ needs more comprehensively and more systematically also began. Interdisciplinary course programs are "embedded" according to main program's objective of a university (economics, law, medicine, technical sciences etc.). Regardless of whether a broader higher educational reform is at work or it concerns the reconstruction of a specific part or subject of academic knowledge, organizational and also technological solutions yet applied at Croatian universities are able to influence qualitative shifts in "producing" process of education. This also means that the introduction and the implementation of contemporary solutions certainly contribute to a different, reform-oriented type of teaching/learning sociology. This presentation focuses on how the institutional contexts of colleges and universities shape these transformation impacts.
