Sažetak
Internationalization in higher education recognizes national boundaries, the uniqueness of individual societies and cultures, and in the face of the forces of globalization, urges international understanding and cooperation. The international dimension can also be evaluated as a perspective, activity or program which introduces or integrates an international/ intercultural/global outlook into the major functions of a university. Institutional evolution through this change processes should be an organizational imperative. The Steering Group of ENQA sees benchmarking as one of the evaluation methods for the further development of national evaluation practices. The paper will illustrate important prerequisites and cautions to be considered before Croatian HE units (universities, faculties, colleges etc.) start to use benchmarking technology on a regular basis. In this sense, advantages of benchmarking for the faculty/university's improvement are going to be elaborated.
